Cinema 4D Tutorial 24: Introduction to Motion Capture in C4D with the Kinect

First let me apologize for 2 things. I was skyping during this a tiny bit, I had to take care of some stuff and it was the only time i could fit in a tutorial. Also the microphone was being flooded by noise from my macbook fan. Sorry about that, it may be hard to hear, however you mostly miss me ranting about useless subjects.

Once you’re past all of that here is a new tutorial covering a really awesome subject. Cinema 4D Motion Capture. In this tutorial I go over the basics of how my scenes worked. I will create another tutorial soon going over the usage of NI-mate (and maybe iPisoft).

find these tools here:
ni-mate.com/
ipisoft.com/

Also make sure to make cool stuff!

PS Thanks for checking the blog out ;)

    Hi
I would like to connect Kinect to my mac. Do I need the xbox unit or just the Kinect sensor? Thanks for any help Mike

Hey Mike, You don’t need an xbox. I don’t even own an xbox personally so I know it works if you just buy the kinect sensor.

Good luck and thanks for the comment,

Hi Sam, thank you for your Cinema 4D motion capture tutorial. I am also
planing to buy a kinect sensor for motion capture. As I have noticed, there
are two types of kinect sensors available: kinect for XBOX and kinect
for windows. Which one is the right one? (I do not have XBOX and I use
both Mac and PC). Thanks! Look forward to hear from you, Y

You should get the kinect for xbox. Kinect has a new version released that is not compatible yet so check out the NI mate facebook page for information on which kinect to look for.

    Hi Sam, i just discover your website – it’s excellent :) .
Do you know what happen if i use 2 kinect when i capture – is the capture signal is “better” ? does it crash ?
I read that the windows version of the kinect offer more drivers updates – do you think it’s better the buy the windows one ?
Thanks (for your website and tutorials :) )
